Description
Here is an example of a Victorian hand knit doll stocking. It is approximately two inches long, of cream wool, red wool trim and a garter made of a silk crimson bow and gold elastic.
Each doll accessory was made with the greatest accuracy to proportion and design.
This beautiful stocking remind me of my mother's hand knitted garments she made for us.
The victorian clothes and accessories such as ivory combs and brushes, barrets, jewelry, every kind of dress, slip, shoe, dishes, ribbons, desk sets, furniture, hats, rings, hat boxes, books, animals, bed linens, bath linens, toys, all tiny, delicate and perfect.
Little girls were raised to play with dolls, so to learn how to be well educated women in the area of being socially proper, being a good wife and a nurturing mother.
Whatever the historical intentions may have been, I love the magic in miniatures, the wonder of make-believe and the exquisite and masterful artistry in these tiny creations.
