Description
Dolls all around the world were not merely toys for children, but were objects used for training children up in how to care of others and themselves.
They were primarily tools to teach little girls how to be nurturing mothers, learn good social manners, understating proper dress, and ethics.
Little girls were being groomed to be educated wives and mothers.
These three tiny Victorian objects were fascinating to me.
The Cross necklace is made of sapphires inlaid in gold, with a gold chain for dolly to wear over her Sunday clothes.
The hand made leather covered Bible, and hand painted paper covered Old Testament Stories, had minute printing in their pages- passages from the King James Version of the Holy Bible, which were taught to Dolly.
A child's development in her faith was the cornerstone of being a caring, loving and devoted wife and mother.

Lovely comment, VIVA. I so appreciate your time and careful word choices. You are so right- most necessary in barren times.

Alida, what a beautiful testament of faith in this lovely portrait of precious, meaningful artifacts from a doll's collection. Loved reading your description, too. So beautifully presented. A definite favorite. F/L
