Mothers and their children line up along the great terrace railing to watch new garden construction taking place at Longwood Gardens in Wilmington Delaware.
The ladies are Amish, a Christian sect who have travelled from Lancaster PA, to visit these world famous gardens.
Their white bonnets signify that they are married. Their modest clothing is a sign of modesty and humility, and all their clothes are hand made by the women.
Children also wear plain clothes and are schooled in a one room school house until they are thirteen or fourteen, when they may receive vocational training to be able to work family farms, make furniture, sew and be self sufficient without modern tools or machinery.
Here, they are happily touring and learning about spectacular plants, meadows, our natural environment and beautiful fountain displays.
The children's laughter is as delightful as the flowers.

I always knew that art would be a major avenue of deep expression. My major at Converse College, South Carolina was Fine Art, which I broadened to include minors in Religion, Humanities and Philosophy.
