Description
A surprise visiter decided to stake a claim in our family room. She explored along a wall under a hanging picture, looking for the perfect spot to begin weaving her web.
I was struck by the combination of striking colors, her bright yellow and black abdomen, her orange, white and black legs combined with the painted grain of a wooden picture frame and the turquoise wall paint.
It is late fall, and spiders are scrambling to find new locations for winter insect catching.
This beautiful marbled orb weaver, also called pumpkin spider, finally settled on the ceiling and created a very small web there.
I was able to gently remove her, and placed her in a far more accommodating location, outside.

It’s good to meet a fellow spider-saver. It’s always been my job to put them outside. Beautiful capture!

Alida, impressed that you took the time to photo this little rascal before relocating. What a great image!
Alida M Haslett replied:
Well, she was so pretty- and I had to get a number of "portraits: before saying goodbye!
