Description
Lichen growing on rock is like a painters canvas, revealing stages of layering, design and detail.
Two prevailing types of this fungus are shown here, integrated over a rock surface.
Shield lichens, specifically here, parmelia, are bluish-grey with squarish tips at the end of the leaf-like lobes. Their circular growth remind one of florets.
The lecidea, are the dark grey circular fungi with charcoal rings at their base.
