Description
Gently rescued and placed on a rock in the garden, I photographed this baby ovenbird as it timidly sat still and watched me from a distance.
A family lives in our woods and their music is haunting on summer evenings.

Thanks Christopher. You have a good point here. I tried looking up pictures to identify this little one - I know we have wood thrush in our woods, we hear them all summer. I’ll do more comparisons and really appreciate your input. Thanks for the comments!

did you rule out an ovenbird? with the very clean malar stripe and the crown stripe, that would be my guess. great photo!
Alida M Haslett replied:
Christopher, Thank you so much for your insight! I have been looking up photos and identities of thrushes and ovenbirds and have determined you GOT OT RIGHT! I do believe this is an ovenbird and I am delighted you spoke up to advise me of this species. Many thanks, I love learning!
