Description
This beautiful pair of mourning doves, also called rain doves, are found daily in our backyard looking for seeds to feed on in the snow.
These birds are plentiful in our woods. They are prolific breeders, strong fliers( reaching speeds up to 55 miles per hour!) and are the national bird of the British Virgin Islands.
Their wings make a whirring sound when they fly, but I love the soft coos they make while grazing or perched in a tree.

A wonderful photograph, Alida! I, too, love watching birds and regularly see Mourning Doves under our feeder. You captured them beautifully!
