Description
A hoverfly has landed on a large black-eyed susan.
This insect is often confused with bees and wasps with its black and yellow striped body and clear wings.
It hovers around flowers, flying back and forth, before landing for its drink.
Hoverflies, flower flies, or syrphid flies, make up the insect family syrphidae.
They are valuable insects as they devour crop damaging aphids as well as being pollinators.
They are considered the second most important pollinators after wild bees.

the overflies are fun to watch also- they fly on horizontal and vertical planes across the tops of the flowers - like helicopters! Thank you for your comments!
