The Gerber daisy is a species native to South America, Africa and Asia.
it is commonly known as the African daisy.
It is the fifth most common cut flower in the world, after the rose, carnation, chrysanthemum and tulip.
Interestingly, this flower was named in honor of the German botanist and medical doctor, Traugott Gerber, who travelled extensively through Russia and was a friend of Carl Linnaeus.
Linnaeus, a swedish botanist, zoologist, and physician, formulated binomial nomenclature, " the father of modern taxonomy", was renowned for identifying and naming plants. He was considered one of the founders of modern ecology.
These beauties are in my garden.

I always knew that art would be a major avenue of deep expression. My major at Converse College, South Carolina was Fine Art, which I broadened to include minors in Religion, Humanities and Philosophy. During my four years there, I studied at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, and art history in London, Amsterdam and Paris. Education opened...
